Default V40 1.8i GDI EGR Confusion

Hi guys, been taking my 2001 V40 GDI apart to clean the EGR, throttle body and intake manifold. I've got the later version of the GDI with the plastic manifold.

Does anyone know if these had the EGR blanked off from the factory? There appears to be no way for the exhaust gas to enter the inlet manifold.

There is no straight through at all, just a recess in the manifold which appears to be a dead end for the exhaust gas.

Anyone got any pictures of their plastic manifolds showing how the EGR is supposed to work on the later GDI engines? (b4184sj)

Not many GDi about now - most have been scrapped. You may get better response from the S40 - V40 classic group on Facebook.
