Finally fitted mine yesterday afternoon, in light of the 12 hours of snow that the weather forecast promised - actual result was 1 1/2". Most disappointing....

However the tyres (Vredstein Snow+, the only ones that I was able to find in the right size for my Amazon) performed very nicely in what snow there was, whilst it lasted, & very much better than the regular ones have been in the past in similar conditions. Wheelspin was only available when provoked, and the tyres would quickly gain traction. When driving with the offside wheels running on cleared road, and the nearside in snow covered road, everything felt entirely normal whereas in previous years, such manoeuvres on regular tyres (in order to pass oncoming vehicles, when both cars were driving in the middle of the road, on the only section cleared by tyre tracks) had always required far greater care & concentration to maintain control. Very useful in heavily cambered narrow London side streets.

It would be interesting to see what they'd be like in deeper snow. So far though, the signs are very promising, but looks like I'll have to wait to find that out!

Had about 8/10" snow today and my recently acquired V70 had it's first hit running on standard P6000's and - apart from needing a shove out of the steep drive backwards, it was fine. On the non gritted back lanes I didn't see any other 2wd's!
I'm suitably impressed.

I'm waiting for a reply from Which Magazine, I've asked them if I can copy their extensive winter tyre test results from their Jan 2012 magazine for use on the Volvo forum

They are, as common with the big V70, terrible on snow.
Goodyear supply tyres to the Police at massive discounts. I have to say that I never failed to get through to any emergency in bad conditions in any of the Volvos we used from 850's up to the last V70's.

The report is not on their online Which?, it is only in their magazine and tbh I don't want to break copywrite law with such a big company, anything outside of the lounge can be pulled up on a google search

My 850 was ok in the snow, my C70 seems pretty good with its traction control and P6000s

Pulled my 760 out from my sloped driveway yesterday - thought I'd see what it was like in the snow as I'd been wondering about winter tyres for some time. Reversed it out... eventually... and then decided it was rubbish turned it around (leaving little burnout holes in the snow) and got the C70 out... So the answer of would it benefit with winter tyres... is yes, yes it would. What I can say is that the RWD handbrake trick does work...no no... no spinning it around but using it as a 'higher gear'. To be fair the tyres are fairly worn front and back now, I guess a few slabs in the back would be necessary
