Morning all

In the process of purchasing a Volvo Selekt approved car.

As with all Selekt cars - if < 5 years you get 12m warranty, >5 years you get 6 months.

The car was registerd on 28th Nov 2013. I have put the deposit down and got my signed order form which clearly states 12m warranty, however I am only picking up the car tomorrow\Sunday.

I think I'm fine as my order for clearly states 12m however I am thinking of selling my car privately instead of the current partex i have agreed. Will they have to re-do my order form if i do this and I'll lose out on the 12m warranty.

I have asked the dealership but not recieved a convincing response - they 'think its ok'.

As I see it, you are amending the contract insofar as you are no longer including part exchanging your car as agreed in the original contact, so - only with their agreement - the original contract will cease to exist (although I believe they could hold you to this contract).
By agreeing a new contract, I would expect the conditions of that contract will be based on the age of car at the date the new contract is drawn up. I cannot see any ifs and buts about it, and I would expect that whatever they say, the final decision will rest with Volvo's guarantee, and you may find that this does not tally with the dealer's view when such a claim might arise.

Default Selekt Warranty

In case this helps anyone else....

Volvo UK confirmed that registration of the warranty lies with the dealer and is provided by car care plan. In their own words the dealer can register a car older than 5 years for the 12m warranty too.

Contactacted the dealer though and they're going to put the warranty through today so it wont be an issue.
