Default Volvo "Service Promise" first 12-month service part numbers

Volvo seem to be repeatedly refusing to honour their Volvo Service Promise. We have been fobbed-off repeatedly in Cardiff.

The latest excuse that I seem to be receiving is that price match quotations from third parties must state all official Volvo part numbers.

Most independent garages have to order these parts in especially and can only do so when they have inspected the vehicle they are servicing.

So can anyone advise from experience or superior knowledge as to the Volvo part numbers relevant to a first 12-month service please?

That's interesting. I recently asked my dealers parts department for the part number for my brake pads and was told they are not allowed to give out part numbers. I now know why.

Personally I would come at this from another direction. Forget the promise - it is marketing bull**** and will never deliver anything. Just use good old fashioned capitalism and commercial pressure.

Just ask the dealer for their best price on a service, then ring round a few dealers and get their best prices. Then go back to your preferred dealer and ask them to price match. Dealers in different parts of the country have wildly different prices too. The big chains will often be more aggressive. I once got offered 20% of menu prices with Stoneacre.

My brother lives in Buckinghamshire. Our Mum lives in Cumbria. He goes to see her and gets the car serviced at the same time and saves a packet. He could of course go to the local dealer and ask them to get as close to Cumbria as they can (and explain that for him, travelling to Cumbria is a normal trip anyway).

There is always 10% to be had easily. More if you are pushy/diligent/lucky.

I am a bit out of touch with Volvo dealers in South Wales, but there used to be one in Newport, and one in Abergavenny I think so maybe some local to benchmark. Cardiff dealer is still down on the way to the docklands by county hall? I remember Cardiff used to be Flowers garage at Cowbridge but that makes me feel properly old.......
