I think we're hooked....
Well today became volvo number 2 day...
Purchased ourselves another 850.... Hoping she's going to be as good as the other one we've got... It's bye bye saxo very soon (worth it just for the safety factor alone) |

Well, its been binned once so we know they don't bend well! Unfortunately due to modern joys of mortgages and demanding children etc they can't go with a new car. I think a 850 or S40 would be perfect. I'd lent them my old 460 a while back when the saxo was off road (again) they were pretty impressed.
I'm trying to convince her to give it to me, its a VTR would be a great little track car

Funnily enough that's what we're getting rid of...
After on 80k it needs a new rear axle!! supposedly it's a "common fault" as the bearings get full of water at the torsion bar... |

Yup! pretty much the usual result of slightly drunk gauls trying to build a car. Its not unknown for the rear torsion beams to run off true, you see alot of Saxo/Pug 106s doing the 'crab' dance. A real PITA to fit alloys to them, i've fitted wheels that work on one side and have needed a 5 mm spacer on the other side!
Otherwise apart from being rubbish build, they're a hoot to drive fast. I just don't know if i can get my sisters car through another year without major spanner time! The whole cooling system is the latest thing to play up, oh and it needs welding underneath Can't complain, its 11 years old now!!

Nice looking 850, theres just something about the classic lines of a Volvo........ I think the word is elegance, almost regal. Kinda makes you proud to own em.

Nice Phase 1 model, they are getting scarcer by the day. That must be a GLT judging by the hubcaps and bodycoloured mirrors and sills.
