Default IPA as Brake Cleaner??

Hi,

Hope to get round to refurbing my 940 rear brakes over Easter, and just wondered if 99% IPA would work as a good brake cleaner??

Was think of just popping some into a hand pressure sprayer.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Cheers
Steve

I just use "Brake Cleaner 5Ltr" as advertised:~

Ebay seem to have descent prices on some brands- few pounds cheaper than my local factors-- all in price so no travel/fuel costs.
Regards Bob.

Elbow grease from the £1 shop I use. It's now available in home bargains aswell.
It's better than any brake cleaner and dirt cheap.

Yeah it's fine. Brake cleaner is probably very similar composition as it smells a lot like IPA.

I thought IPA was more used as a disinfectant than a cleaner? I just buy a can of the proper stuff.

You can use IPA. Its what is commonly recommended ny the manufacturers of mountain bikes, and their sintered pads, steel discs and piston seals are very similar composition to those used on cars

However, I would question why you would want to, what with brake cleaner being so inexpensive.
