Default Middle Air Vents only Blow Cold Air

Hey there,

I got a slightly wierd problem in that the central air vents only blow cold air while the two side vents work properly.

They motor still works and blows air at which ever speed is desired.

I'm hoping this one has an easy fix as the recent weather means I need all teh heaters I can get!!

Not sure what its like on the V70 but on my 850 there is an 'Airmix' dial next to the centre vent, turning it one way will make the centre vents only blow un heated air, turning it the other and they blow heated air. Might be this not working properly?

Yeh, as above, to the right of the center vents will be 2 wheels for allowing air through, as they usually do ..

Left hand one of the pair on the right will control the vent itself, so open/close like a noroam vent, the other one is the "air mix" or "cool air" style feed. If its open the air coming in will be noticeably colder, especially in the current weather conditions! Try closing the right hand one and leaving the other one open. Should work!

I'll defintely try that but unless somebody else fiddled with the controls behind my back I can;t understand it, this seems to have just started happening spontaneously. Could have happened quite a while ago I supose I just never noticed till the cold snap hit.

That sorted it thank you!!

It seems bizzare to me to have such a function. When would you ever want to have warm air from the side vents but cold air from the middle vents?

Warm air to keep the windows clear, cool air you can have on yourself/your passenger if you want it, say, a rainy summers say where windows are misting up, you can keep cool, yet keep clear windows :P

Different temperatures for the windows and the passengers I can understand.

But different temperatures between outer and middle air vents? Seems a little redundant to me?

This sort of function is on many cars, and even climate control systems deal with it in a similar way.

It's based on the rationale that most people find it unpleasant to have warm air blowing towards their face.

it is a fresh air function rather than a temperature function or so it says in the handbook
