Default Trade In Value for a 2011 XC90

I own a very good condition Mar 2011 XC90 Exec (200 PS) with the attached spec (plus front parking sensors and 3 yr service pack)

It's done 14,500 miles. How much should I be aiming for on Trade-In?

I am thinking about getting a BMW X5 (wife doesn't like the XC90 - sorry!)

I'd guess about 5 or 6k less than you paid for it.....and make her indoors pay for it would be my advice. X5's are okay if thats what you like but they are pants in the snow (very wide wheels) and give a hard ride (very low profile tyres) compared to the XC.

I would show her an XC60 instead of an X5, better overall value of money.

God I wish I could persuade my wife to ditch the XC90 and buy an X5. Unfortunately she thinks it's a good car.

I think I paid about £34k OTR ...so that would be £28/29k.

I'm not that worried about snow. I work from home and there are shops I can walk to.

The XC90 is a good deal older than the X5 and I think it still stands up well against it. The current X5 may handle well and have more modern engines, but I have never liked the way it looked and always thought it was unnecessarily big and poorly packaged. It mainly gets good reviews because the UK press are German biased.

I am no fan of SUV's (in fact, I don't see the point of them next to an estate car like the Skoda Superb) but I have always respected the XC90 for its timeless style and innovative interior. It is the most inoffensive SUV out there I think.

Sorry but the XC60 can`t hold a candle to the X5 in any area, maybe lower initial cost but it stops there.

An 2011 BMW X5 scored 7.7 points overall rating and 5.0 points on reliability.
An 2011 Volvo XC60 scored 8.7 points overall rating and 6.0 points on reliability!
The source is U.S.NEWS rankings and reviews.
So please enough bragging on German cars, their reliability these days are down the drain.

That's because they are both different classes of car. The XC60 is comparable to the X3, which it competes well against.
