My old XC90 had a very similar problem and it took me many days to find the solution: it turned out to be a build up of rust and scale on the inner side, unswept area of the brake disc. The slight flexing of the disc, stub axle and steering components on full lock were allowing the rust/scale to rub against the dust shield, making a horrendous noise.
Half an hour spent pulling the disc off and chipping off the scale with a hammer completely solved the problem.

I have just had the very same on the s60, after suspecting a dodgy calliper -it wasn’t! - it materialised it was the drive shaft knackered.
Replaced both sides in a couple of hours and all is good again in the world. Must admit I wasn’t convinced it was driveshaft as it wasn’t the noise I associate with a failed drive shaft, but true enough swapped them out and the noise is gone.
