The hardest part is the clutch gets stuck on the shaft, may get bent when pulling it (worth buying a new clutch).
Use only a quality bearing brand (I put a 35x55x20 PFI), chinese bearings will fail within months

does anyone know if the alternator pack can be replaced in situ?, or does the alternator have to be removed?

Do you mean the diode pack ?

The brush pack was replaceable in situ on my Euro 3 D5.
