Default 1.6D (D4164T) - Shudder during engine switch off

Hi All,

I’ve noticed some engine shudder during engine switch off. To be honest, I don't know if it was this severe before (car has been parked up for nearly half a year).

From searching the forum, one possible cause seems to be a stuck Anti Shudder Valve but more commonly for 2.0D engines. It should normally be open (al least with engine running at idle) and close during engine switch off.

I did this check on my 1.6D and found the valve is closed all the time. I did the test a number of times, by starting the engine to idle and then switching off. I pushed the valve manually and does not appear to be stuck and always springs back to the closed position.

This leads to a couple of questions:

1. Should the valve on the 1.6D operate the same way as for 2.0D?
2. See attached picture – is this the Anti Shudder Valve?

Or, am I barking up the wrong tree?
