Default what to look for inan s40 2.0d

hi my brother is torn between an s40 2.0d and 05plate 80.000 miles and a vectra sri 1.9cdti 06 plate and 40.000miles hes budget is 5k just want to know what things to look out for when he goes on the test drive it hasnt had a clutch change the guy selling it said it dont need changing till 120000 is that right. Is there any common faults on these? Thanks

Hi, i don't have the expertise to help you, but suggest you either PM Clan or phone a main dealer with regard to the clutch change interval, and have the registration plate number to hand if possible.

make sure it has had a cambelt change at that age, check it starts well the plastic throttle body can stick causing it to struggle or refuse to start, and the usual stuff really common sense. check the turbo and make sure that it is not to smokey out the back when giving it the beans.
