Hi! Has done recall (changed some pipes and have a new manifold) and software update done also! After couple days my engine warning light come up (with reduced engine performance sign)! Went back to main dealer, paid 99£ for diagnostics and they said now my EMAP pipe is soothed up and blocked!
Gave me a quote for new EMAP pipe and fuel pipes changing - 890£! In other posts there was Volvo owners who had similar issue and Volvo covered cost for that! What you guys would suggest me to do in this case? Thanks |

I thought the fuel pipes were a recall? you need to press them on both issues or try another dealer .

My EMAP and TMAP sensors were recently cleaned as part of the recall, but I've no idea if that included the associated pipework? I know that the EMAP sensor is fitted to a pipe that is known to block and vaguely remember a thread last year where we discussed using caustic soda to dissolve the soot blockage.
While at the dealer I asked for an explanation of why R29939 and R29948 appear to refer to the same 'deforming/fire risk intake manifold' issue. I got a rambling reply which seemed to imply that the former related to a simple notification, while the latter related to an available action for the problem described in that notification. I only received the former notification, but whatever I had done addressed both recalls! I know what a MAP sensor does, and I also know that an EMAP sensor performs a similar function in the exhaust manifold. But what's a TMAP sensor and what does it do? I've never had anything about a fuel pipe recall.

Mine has really bad hesitation at the moment on light throttle, particularly whilst warming up. I'm surprised the EML hasn't come on yet, I'm waiting for it to do so before taking it in under the recall.

Sitting in service reception waiting to have the recall software update done. Nothing else involved it seems.

While your EML hasn't yet come on, it'd definitely be worth checking for any pending/unconfirmed diagnostic trouble codes... these come and go as intermittent, short-term problems arise and then clear themselves. Have you got a code reader? If you're near Ludlow I can lend you one? Sounds a bit like the problem I had when my EGR valve was sticking and not always closing. This might be addressed by the recall software update, as it modifies the EGR movement.

Update done. Subjectively it feels as if the throttle response has improved but otherwise I will just carry on with my life.
Incidentally, no problem in getting an invoice from them to confirm what they had done. Came tp £0.00. |

Clan is correct - there was a recall relating to fuel lines early last year:
https://car-recalls.eu/recall/volvo-v60-2014-2016/ Had mine done FOC at the same time as my EGR cooler. Definitely press the dealer. |

Aha. Finally got my second recall letter. It is for ref. R29948 and says:-
'Volvo have completed their investigations working with the appropriate authorities and conclude that your Volvo will require a software upgrade to the Engine Control Module. Please contact our Service Department, the software upgrade will be carried out free of charge.' I'm hoping they will check out any existing sooting before doing the upgrade. I can't say I'm convinced that this is a long term total solution though.
