Noise when turning left S40
Hi
Purchased another Volvo for the misses, this time a S40 D5 2007, there is a knocking or rubbing when turning left. Had the gearbox checked out, they said drive shafts, so changed them both, someone said wheel bearing, checked it and its fine. Its an odd issue, i am tempted just to wait for something to break and then fix it but its hard for me to do that. While disconnecting the battery to change a worn seat yesterday i did notice this, it looks like the engine is out of the mount slightly, which my guess would this is the issue that the drive shaft is pulling or misaligned when turning left because of this, pic below Any suggestions or ideas?

Where does the sound come from? Engine or wheels?
Have you checked wheel both bearings?

The gearbox man says driveshafts but they have been changed. The garage says wheel bearings are ok but unsure if they actually checked them or they assume noise is from somewhere else.

There's probably little help because you're giving us nothing to go on.
You don't describe the full circumstances, whether it's at all speeds, all temperatures, all grades of corner. You don't mention your mileage also which could bring certain things into play or eliminate others. As for your bush question, I know nothing about what should be there but that looks like a polybush to me, which can be quite harsh and transmit noise and vibration. If it is, look at the possibility of going back to genuine.

All speeds when turning left only, all temps, all grades, all the time when turning left (louder when on trottle)

First check is for something as simple as a brake disc guard rubbing. If it's anything like mine, the slightest bend (which is easy to do when working in that area) can cause noise you describe right up to a noise that's so loud and grating, it sounds like the world's going to end. Whilst you're there, do your own bearing checks by wobbling the wheel (still securely bolted on) at 12 and 6 o'clock position, then at 9 and 3 o'clock position to check tie rods. Also check the condition of wishbone bushes, particularly the rear.

No problem. I've added further info in my above answer.
That mileage is prime territory for any number of suspension and steering wear and tear. Check drop links too and you may be due shocks and or shock mounts.
