I am in a dilemma re if I should shop around for a better deal on my renewal premium for my ’98 V70 ‘R’ AWD.
I have advised them of all the modifications that I have done to my car, and yet not having ever made a claim on my protected no claim bonus full comprehensive policy, they have had the audacity of demanding an extra £6 this year, bringing my renewal premium to a staggering £381.03.
What do you think folks, should I tell ‘em to stuff their policy, and surf the net for a better deal, or barter with them in the hope they’ll give me 50% off not to loose my custom?????????

Hi Dave, try Chris Knott, I moved to them last year. They understand that enthusiasts want to modify their cars. I would be interested in hearing what sort of quote they give you - pm me and let me know if you do phone them. I Hope that you are well - haven't seen you for quite a while!

Hi Iain
Nice to hear from you Iain, sorry I could not make it last Sunday, glad you had a good turn out, well done for your continued enthusiasm for the Performance Section, I feel guilty now I could not support you this time, but I will endeavour to make the next one. Re your post, I do not honestly think any one is going to come close to that quote, but I’ll try, out of interest, what are you paying then???????
Regards
Dave

i think you should drive round without insurance....as long as you don't eat an apple whilst driving you will never get caught.

I get the distinct feeling Mr Doorman that you are taking the 'mick'....

I was pleased I'd dipped under the £800 mark (10 yr NCB, protected, no convictions, 35yrs too old)

You, however, could always try Saga ;) :P

Em, it may be true that I am fast approaching the 39th anniversary of my 21st birthday, but much to young yet to consider saga.
Taking the mick I may be, but I love the way you phrase it. Most would have referred to the --ss word.

Dave ;-)

Doorman I am paying 4x what you have been quoted - with CK. An extra £6 eh - that's just not funny!

Just got my renewal through from AXA for this year.

Ha ha, I think I'll be shopping around. Actually sorry, that should read I *will* be shopping around. I've alrwady phoned them and asked them not to renew me.

Last year I paid just under £600. This year? Unbelievable! To be fair, it's not AXA who've quoted - they aren't offering direct Motor or Home insurance anymore so RAC insurance have taken on the book of business.

Regards

Andy

P.S. £1,805!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm, or £528 with First Alternative? I think I may stick with AXA eh? What does everyone else think?

I'll give Chris Knott a call on Monday I think. Even if they can't beat First Alternative I may go with them anyway providing they're not too far out. I called them a few months ago when I got the T5 because I was convinced AXA wouldn't add the T5 to my policy. CK were absolutely fantastic - their service second to none. The club also gets commission from each sale.

Regards

Andy

Everyone's different, but for the wife's C70 we changed to Chris Knott from VOI as it was a lot cheaper, but for my S80 VOI is much better. The VOI policy is also better, Chris Knott with Norwich Union has an excess on windscreen brakage for example whereras VOI does not. I'd also guess that getting your car repaired if needed by a Volvo dealer would be more assured through VOI.
