"Only five years ago, the diesel engine was our bread and butter in Europe" I can't help thinking they won't be saying that about electric!

They really have put all there eggs in one basket, the torslanda plant is having a new battery facility added on in conjunction with a company called northvolt.

The nordics really have taken electric on, I was reading an article on CNBC, over 80% of new cars sold were electric. I’ve already seen a number of new EX30s on our roads, a local dealer salesman has won an award for the number of EX30 orders he has taken. I think certain people are switching, they like to keep up with the Jones’s after all.

My friend has just got an C40 through a work scheme, I took it for a blast. What a nice thing. Silent, still feels like a volvo, goes like stink. I would have one, but it only suits me as a second vehicle. I couldn’t be doing with only been able to do 200 mile before having to plug the bloody thing in.

I just can’t see electric taking hold here mainstream, forget the infrastructure argument, it’s our routines we don’t like to change, who wants to go on holiday and fight over a car charger on your journey or land late at night only to remember you needed to charge the bloody car on your journey home just as an example. It’s mindset that has to change more than anything which we are not very good at.

I spent some time in a "Nordic region" and found they have cheaper electricity and source most of their electricity from things like hydroelectric/renewables which makes it economically and environmentally feasible for them. But they also walk and cycle alot, even in subzero temps, seen a few people pootling along @ -35degC...

In the UK we demonise cyclists, walking is for peasants, and any attempt to encourage us to use cheaper and healthier modes of transportation is a "woke liberal agenda" as opposed to a "patriotic" (we need to be fighting fit, right?) and fiscally responsible one.

Default EV’s

They (government) need to start imposing Road Fund Tax on EV’s they are using the roads, they are contributing to the pot holes, especially because of their weight. They’re impossible to extinguish when they catch fire. Destroying the road surface in the process.
I had a Lexus Hybrid and owned for a year, sold that and a watch, now have a XC70 SE AWD D5 Sport with Polestar. My other car is a Mercedes SL320 1999 Petrol.
Not going down the EV rabbit hole.
