  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Thanks everyone for the information - every day is a school day for me.

When out in the car yesterday [external temp 7C] I noticed that the fan speed did not change as the engine warmed up. On previous cars the fan would increase speed as more heat became available until the selected temperature was reached and then it would slow down again.

The fan in the Volvo does not seem to vary its speed when auto is selected.

It seems from what others have said that an electrical heater should be fitted to my car but the handbook appears not to show a fuse location for one.

The fan speed does indeed change when set to AUTO. When the coolant gets warm enough for it to be useful, it speeds up, and then keep doing that until the cabin warms up.

When everything works as it should, that is.
