General: 850: - Fake T5?

I just spotted this on ebay, its advertised as a T5 but under the bonnet theres no intercooler pipes and the speedo only reads 140 mph correct me if Iam wrong http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-VOLVO-850...QQcmdZViewItem

Hiya,

I don't think that's a T5. As you say, the air box goes directly to the throttle body - not via the turbo or intercooler.

Both of mine look like that! Except my spark plug cover says "Volvo 20 valve". My intercooler pipe runs down the back of the rad towards the gearbox and then over the top of the gearbox round the block and down to the turbo, its the same on both of them (and all factory fit), I've seen the intercooler pipes that run over/across the top of the engine and straight down to the turbo, I thought this was just the R's or later models? Have I been done?

I know earlier t5s had reverse flow intercooler pipes but both types run over the top of the engine AFAIK

I can't see what your actual problem is - the advert clearly states the vehicle for sale is a GLT- and not a T5.

No problem read the title it says volvo 850 t5, I just put in volvo t5 in ebay and this came up

Hiya,

it's the title that says T5.

Maybe just a way to try to get people to find it through searching, but could be seen as a bit misleading. Plus, the T5 badge on the boot makes it look like someone's trying to hint it's a T5 when it isn't.
