Exclamation Volvo 940 wentworth replacement glass quarter panel

Hey guys,

I'm the proud owner of a 940 wentworth estate - 1993. Recently a scaffolder put a pole through the back window, the quarter panel behind the seats - passenger side. Very annoying. Having a hard time finding replacement glass for the panel, Volvo dealership doesn't make it anymore, go figure. Also none in local breakers. Anyone on here got any leads? Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'd be surprised if Lakes in Bedfordshire can't help.... Must be a hundred old red block cars in their yard broken.

If you can't source the glass yourself then my advice is to find an independent auto glass specialist who will give you a non-insurance price. I've had two 940 windscreens replaced at prices I was very pleased with by this approach. Non-OEM, but CE marked glass.

Both of those places should be able to help you but bear in mind to replace the quarterlight glass, the door card has to come off, the main window glass out of the door and then the rivets that secure the window channel have to be drilled out. One rivet is in the top of the door frame, the other is behind the door card.

With that in mind, it's possible that they would want to sell a complete door. The other option is to use either Perspex and cut it to shape/size yourself or find someone breaking a Volvo in the For Sale section on here, Tom (P505DEF) is a forum member and Volvo breaker, he may be able to help.

I think he's after the rear load area space glass, not the fixed pane in the rear doors. Potentially made more annoying by that window (passenger side) being the one with the radio antenna on it...

A 93 model should have a extending electrical Ariel still I think, have you tried FRF to source one via classic parts?

I can see why you say that now you mention it - think we need clarification from the OP really!

By rights it should be the builder searching for this! I didn't realise the later cars had the aerial built in to the demist elements, i've got an old fashioned automatic electric aerial in the D pillar on mine.
