Default Headlamp bulbs

Hello All,

Having just had a headlamp bulb go on me for the first time, I thought I'd check to see if anyone had any recommendations for upgrading the bulbs or wether I'd be best sticking to the std items.

Cheers,

Craig

Hi Craig,

I've been running Philips VisionPlus for a while seem quite good. i.e. noticeably better than standard bulbs.

Can be purchased online from http://www.autolamps-online.com

@ £9.50 each inc p&p. They were doing a deal a while back buy 2 get 1 free but don't seem to be doing that at the moment.

Also there is a newish bulb from Sylvania

http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm

http://www.powerbulbs.net/products/p...id=oss&type=H1

The Visionplus seem to be regarded as the brighest available..certainly a lot brighter than the 'blue bulbs' you can get. I've got some Visionplus (H7 for my V70) and they are actually noticeably brighter.

Powerbulbs.com is good, visit www.volvotuning.com beforehand though and look in the member discounts section, as powerbulbs offer 10% discount if you order via volvotuning.

If you are ever in France buy spares there from the supermarkets. H7 were about £4 to £5 instead of rip off Britains £14 . Cheers Nigel

Europe is having some effect then!! Halfords used to sell H7 only in full packs with lots of bulbs you didnt need. Why are they so expensive is the real question considering the price you can get household hallogens for. Chers Nigel

Philips VisionPlus are I think the best around, in terms of brightness, but also in terms of the beam cut-off's and general aim.

I think that's probably why autobulbs are more expensive, they have to be more carefully made. Also, of course, they're more expensive because they CAN be!
