Default Smokey v70

Most of the time when I’m reversing I’m getting lots of black smoke, never get it driving forward. Vida has not found any faults but the car tends to regenerate alot more that I had thought.

I fitted a new dpf last year (non Volvo) but done this with the original dpf too.

Any solutions?

Seems odd. A dpf should surely be collecting all black sooty particles - I'd have expected a soot filter full message if it's producing noticeable black smoke.

Regarding reversing: Where are you seeing the smoke? Through the back window or at the front of the car? Does it smoke on a good hard rev when parked?

I'm wondering if you have an exhaust leak before it gets to the DPF?

I noticed you've got the 2.0D - 4 pot motor. Does this not need a DPF additive refilled at 75k miles? (I'm probably wrong but thought it worth a mention!)

I thought the 75k figure was for replacement of the DPF, the adblue tank should be refilled every service I think. I believe it's underneath the car just in front of the rear axil.

This is hearsay knowlage as I have a D5 but is probably worth checking.

Paul.

The DPF fitted to the 2.0D on the V70/S80 has a 'dry' DPF and doesn't need replacing every 75k miles or require fluid top-ups as the same engine does on some C30/S40/V50 models.

On the "active" DPF system (aka "Wet" DPF) the fluid you need is EOLYS - it's not the same as Ad-Blu, the main difference is that is a about fifty times the price....

Ad-blu is a NOx treatment and is used in place of an EGR valve. It's completely different to Eolys fluid.

I've not logged in for a few days so was slightly perplexed when I saw this post. Having now seen the source for it, I can only apologise and ask that you don't further escalate the situation whilst it is being looked into.
