Make sure the number of pins on the back of your headlight match the number of pins on the plug

Hi gatos,

Its the square plastic base I'm after, happy to take with gaiter if easier. Are all the tabs/clips still intact?

Happy to take the switch unit too, but let the a/c control unit go if you have other offers, I'm trying to get hold of a new potentiometer for mine as that's the only bit I need.

Cheers

Yeah, they are both for a P2 car so they are ok.

If you see the photo I posted in post 7, you can see I circled the 1 broken clip with a yellow circle. As long as the front two and rear ones are ok, the unit will stay secure.

The gaiter is stuck on the base so it might be easier if it goes as a whole. Let me know what you think

Okidokee

I actually leave in East London Essex near the A13/A406 junction so it would be en route to the way to France.

Anyway, slightly bad news I am afraid ... The connector has 4 pins........... I was under the impression that all P2 cars had the same connector for the headlights, but it seems that Dog book was right. Why is it that there is a 4 pin and a 5 pin for the headlights? What is the difference?
I will be going to that breakers next weekend, so I will check if he has the 5 pin connector and let you know.....

atnas666 has first pick on them. See this thread:
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...39#post1045639

I am after £50 including postage for the 2 of them.

So if atnas666 backs off the deal, you can have them if you want

5 pin for the early cars like mine on either type of headlights thats why it was so easy to wire up.
4 pin for the later P2 cars. 4 pin headlights can be adapted to work with the 5 wires afaik. Its just 2 wires brought together... all easy peasy

There seem to be 2 ground points in the diagram; 31/1 and 31/2. Those 2 would need to be checked.

If all else fails I could also send you the CEM which is easy to plug in and see if it makes a difference.
Thanks for that Gatos - I'm hoping the Volvo technician has those diagrams, but something tells me he might not! If I can get past the service desk chap I might try and sneak copies into him. I'm pondering a local auto electrician at the moment, but want to give Volvo a bit longer to try to sort it.

Looks good to me , it will have 5 tabs more than mine.

I'll take it with the gaiter, and the light switch, if you could quote delivered.

Thanks gatos
