Upgrade stereo HU-603 to HU-803

Hello,

First post in a new forum and my first Volvo so please be nice :-)

The HU-603 in my V70 2002 is completely dead so I thought about just buying a replacement off ebay but at the same time upgrading to the HU-803 for the same money.

The only difference I can see it that the HU-603 has an additional grey plug connector on the back whereas the HU-803 only has the single green plug connector..

So has anyone tried this and is it just a case of plug and pray ? also will I need a code for this new model (I didn't think so but just wanted to check!).

Many thanks and if someone can provide some help for me that would be great.

This for the Phase 3 V70/XC70 from 2007 onwards...
Your model is Phase 2 00-07.

Hi Nige, as far as I recall, the HU6XX units use a built in amp whereas HU8XX have amp under the seat, so you would need to source amp & the additional cabling.
