Default 2008 S80 Rear Door Closing

Have a problem with the rear door latch - shutting it "normally" from the outside it seems to bounce and although closed its only on the first latch, if you push and hold the door in slowly it only then engages on the second latch which holds the door tight into the body.

Closing door either firmer or softer has the same result, I've adjusted the catch on the door frame, and have used a screwdriver to check the operation of the latch in the door, which seems to be working perfectly.

I can't see anything stopping the door closing, so wonder if there a fault in the latch mechanism somehow?

Any help would be welcome.

Sounds like a fault. Might be worth spending a few hours taking it out and checking for dirt/broken part or lack of lubrication.

Hi,

Door lock/catch/release units have been discussed before. It is, theoretically an all-in-one unit and comes as such from volvo for a pretty few pounds.

The issue could be lack of lubrication or a broken small plastic piece.

The unit is gruesome to remove and equally more so to take apart but may be worth it for a simple fix.

Des. . .
