Default Chrome trim flaking off

Morning all,

I've just noticed the chrome trim surrounding the driver's door handle on my 2018 V90 inscription has begun to flake off, leaving the white plastic visible.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a warranty job (the car's under a Volvo extended warranty), or do they put it down to wear and tear?

The driver's door handle gets the most use, but I'm left wondering if the others will go the same way. Presumably, like everything else, the part will not be cheap, given the electronics and sensors involved.

Cheers,

Iain

If the extended warranty covers cosmetic finishes (you might want to check that), and theres no evidence of an external cause (good luck proving that itmwasn't fingets, nails, rings, etc), then yes.

Id just buy the chinese ones and be done with it.

I`ve had these on for about 18 months and now starting to show a little road-rash on the front edges but I do recommend them. I do a lot of M/W miles tho`.

And at that price, I`ll just change them out every 2 years or so.

LOL Just wrote in another post having snapped a clip when removing a trim panel that the quality of the newer Volvos is looking shoddy. My Ford Galaxy had this type of chrome affliction and other trim coverings that simply wore off as they were cheaply made - shocking. To be expected on a cheaper car but not a 40K+ Volvo. Just causes everyone grief and then Volvo end up paying more to retrofit better quality items - should have done it right in the first place
