I guess it could be the brake hose, but far more likely to be corrosion on the caliper piston.

**UPDATE**
So I ordered a new felx hose and caliper for the left rear. The flex hose arrived a few days later but the caliper still hadn't shown up two weeks later!! Anyway, to cut a long story short 'Gearmaxparts' on ebay hadn't even sent the caliper when I eventually enquired and gave me some B.S. about it being on extended dispatch!! So I did what I should have done in the first place and ordered one from 'Bulleye car parts' in Sheffield (thanks guys) and they got me the right part for £55 within 24hrs. So the refit went well and bleeding the brakes was a doddle also. I noticed an immediate improvement with no heat build up on the disc now at all. In fact the disc on the other side is hotter than the one with the new hose and caliper so I might replace that too. I didn't get time to examine whether it was the hose or the caliper that was the cause of my over heating problem, as I had to return the old caliper to get my £30 surcharge back. I suspect it was the flex hose though as it was pretty hard and crusty!! |
