I think you can buy Halfords own ones for about £60!! worth a look. They are expensive for non-rail saloons because you have to be individual parts i.e. bars, fitting kit etc.

They have a web site you could try.

PS Hope i'm right !:)

Do you mean roof rails as in the rails that run the length of the car, which you then attach the bars to?

From the price you quoted I would imagine this is what you refering to. However if it's the roof bars then I think Volvo got something wrong!

Thule make the bars for Volvo, and if you buy their kit (available everywhere including halfords) it is identical to Volvo and works out at about 100 quid for a car that does not have roof rails - this is what I have. However the Volvo one is similarly priced.

its the rails that i need first. i've seen the bars in halford they look ok. But their kit positions the bars to close together for my needs ,hence the need for the rails.

Yes I know its annoying the way they have the mountings so close together and so far forward it terrifies me..

picture this

gleaming v70 t5, with 2 gleaming bikes on top (I used to race professionally..worth about 4k) attempting to off road :)

I need to find a better way to take them around..

I went through this last year on my 850 estate, I got Thule bars from Halfords. One fitted, they dismount and mount with 5 minutes work.

They are available to fit either roof rails or the car body.

The car body ones have to fit into those little holes in the door opening.

Both are very quick to remove, once set up I can easily pop mine on/off in 5 mins as the other poster said.

Alex
Do you still carry the bikes ontop?
I was looking at fitting a towbar as I have a pendle bike rack that fits to the towbar, the only problem is gashed shins when I walk into it! my 850 has the rails the full length so this is another alternative, are the bike fittings stable? and approx how much are they?
Thanks and Regards Mike
