Default Flip Down DVD?

Hi all, have my XC90 on order now but passed by the RSE option as will have regular occupiers of the 3rd row seats who would be miffed at their siblings having a TV but not them. This would kind of negate the whole point of having the RSE (quiet little uns) as I foresee arguments betwen my lot.

So....I'm thinking better for me is a 12" (or so) roof mounted DVD player which flips down and can be seen by all. Disadvantage I guess is zero rear vision when in use but that doesn't bother me much.

Does anyone have one if these fitted and if so does it work well for you?? I see Clarion do a 15" version for circa £600... Elliot2 could be the man to fit it...

Peter (Elliot2) can fit screens to the middle row as well as the front headrests and you can set it up so as to be able to watch different things on themas well it's well worth an email to him.

Thanks for the pic Britsud, as they say it tells a thousand words. Looks good, five people can see it and multiple headphones will save me from Peppa Pig madness. I definately think this is the way to go. I'll check fleabay....

Did you find the fixing easy - do you have to cut the headlining?

very easy if you are diy handy if not you should get an auto elec company to install for under £200 you do have to make 4 small holes in the head line as the fixing plate has to be fitted to the roll bar by rivets or self tappers.

I asked myself the same question and went for peter elliot for two reasons: rear visibility but also safety. Saw on a specialist web site than flip down screen are lethal (glass) if severe crash. Not sure I it is true though. It is suprising they are legal if true
peter will cost you more but the quality of his work is very impressive. From Reading this forum, it is clear that his instalation works better than factory fitted one

That is a good point. My thinking up to now has been but a decent flip down dvd and speak to Peter about fitting it... I would think the screen is plastic/perspex but if it came loose its gonna hurt whatever its made of.
