Rear brake drums/hubs
Anyone have a set? Just looking for the hubs as I have new drums. However, happy to take a set of old drums that need replacing if the hubs/woodruff groove is good.

Interesting that you are going down the DIY route and changing the drums yourself. Being as the process is shrinking the new drums on and then machining the unit to get everything round again. The one piece ones now available from Brookhouse are less that half the price of the old exchange ones. Same with the one piece discs. I have a pair of these to fit when they let me get to the garage.

Must admit Derek I did think the same. However, then saw this video from Amazon cars and with access to a press looks easy. Especially with a new pair Of drums (sans hubs) sitting on the shelf!

Yes. I watched that some time back. Don't remember what he said. I think that you would have to check the run out with a dial gauge after fitting. I wouldn't be to optimistic of the odds of getting it within those limits, so having them ground again would have to be done. At least there should be plenty of meat to allow that to work OK. However, Rob might say that he has done the job several times and he's had no problems. How much is a new bare drum? I suspect not cheap so cost/time/work might still make the new one piece ones a better deal.
Remove old drum, fit new one, sounds fine by me. New shoes etc at the same time of course. |

Derek
I bought a set of new drums a couple of years back at a very very competitive price so even though the new drums are now a fair price a fraction what is would cost me to retain the original hubs. My view give it a go, check the run-out and see where we are. Of course only worthwhile if I can get hold of a set of 2nd hand rear hubs |

Weigh in around 5kg each, so probably half that as just the hubs if you're happy to wait for my attempts to detach on Saturday....
