Default Can anyone tell me if these 245 calipers are ATE or Girling?

Hi all, I want to replace my rear calipers, as one is seized open and the other is seized closed.

I tried finding the so-called service plate to find a helpful "1" or "2" for Girling or ATE, but if the service plate is there I can't find it.

I took left and right rear photos as best I could. Can the caliper maker be determined from them?

Or does it even matter what make they are, as the mounts seem similar?

If it helps, the car is a 1979 RHD model for the UK market.

Many thanks for any help.

Peter

P.S. no idea why one pic has rotated itself, but can't seem to fix it.

Isn't the rule that if the pad pins are secured by R-clips then they are giRling?

Since you’re replacing both, replace them with girling irrespective of what was there before- the mounts to the car and connection to the brake pipe are the same, but pads for girling calipers are far easier to find than ate.

Cheers

I would estimate about £100 per corner for Callipers, pads and fittings.
I got mine from brakeparts.co.uk about 5 years ago.

https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/Volvo/...el%20Cylinders
P.S
Ridex do them cheaper.

Thanks very much chaps for the snippets. I've found well-priced Ridex components here:

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/...p245/2767-2-1?

This page is what loads when I put in the car's reg number. But there are two types of caliper offered:

1. RIDEX 78B0768 Brake Caliper behind the axle, Rear Axle Left, RIDEX 78B0758 Brake Caliper behind the axle, Rear Axle Right

2. RIDEX 78B1544 Brake Caliper Left, Rear Axle, with holding frame, RIDEX 78B1245 Brake Caliper Rear Axle, Right, with holding frame

Should I go for the first or the second?

Hi
Is the holding frame something that was on cars for the American market? - a safety device of some kind.
I've not seen one but heard references to them on an American web site as people usually remove them to make access to the brakes easier or when fitting larger wheels.
