Default v50 2.4i: "012C CAN signal. Configuration fault" error

012C CAN signal. Configuration fault

Above error code shows on my 2004 V50. I can clear the code with my diagnostic tool, but once I restart the engine it reappears.

If I clear the code then go for a drive, it quite often won't reappear whilst driving - it will only come back when I've stopped the car and had to restart it.

Any suggestions?

Do you know what the code means, what is it telling you is wrong?

I don't know, I guess that's what I'm asking. That's as much as the code reader tells me, so I'm looking for a cause and even better how to fix it!

Whoops sorry, just realised it's cut the end of my title. It should say this is an SRS / airbag error code

Have you had the ends of the dash board off lately? Unplugged the airbag switch by accident?

I haven't but I've only had the car since March. I'm currently on holiday in France and one morning the warning light didn't appear for hours, so it mustn't be a constant fault?

This code indicates a mismatch of the SRS module to the CEM module , it needs dealer attention , a software re load of one or other modules may help ..

Cheers Clan. Would this be the case even though very occasionally the warning light doesn't come on? If it was a mismatch wouldn't the warning be there constantly?
