Default Replace standard radio/CD unit

My 2010 SE LUX has the performance radio/cd unit. Is it possible to replace this unit with an aftermarket unit, say Kenwood etc without major surgery to the dash/wiring.

Simple answer: no.

Why?

MOST (fibre optics) and not a simple central unit.

It IS possible BUT it WILL cost a lot and requires unlimited access to Volvo Vida and the Volvo server in Gothenburg.

Oh well guess I will have to stick with the standard unit. Reason I ask is that I have a Parrot MKi9100 and as much as I like the Bluetooth phone side, I would really like to plug my iPhone into the cars audio and use the head unit/steering wheel controls to select/skip through my iPhones music library. Whats the simplest and cheapest way of doing this.

Or I suppose I could buy the official Volvo USB/iPod interface kit. Thing is will this work alongside my Parrot kit.

Will work, as the USB/Ipod kit is programmed into the car so your "Mode" button gets extended from say only CD and AUX to CD, AUX, USB and IPOD.
