Cool Low beams

Does anyone know if you can put 100w bulbs in low beams on a 2008 s40. Thanks,

a bit risky i would say personally extra heat current etc.

No. Put them in, and you might as well drive on full beam at all times.

The lows are allowed to have a MAXIMUM of 55w. That is MAX. Anymore and you will either fry the cables or melt the headlight housing.

Just so you know what happens:

I had in my rear numberplate lights 10w bulbs instead of 5w. Didn't twig, until they melted! Only 5w difference causes troubles...

If I remember correctly it is illegal to fit 100watt bulbs for road use. Not quite sure what the max wattage is though.

So is fitting a hid kit but people still do it. You can fit 100w if you want but be sure to fit a relay to stop the wires melting. I doubt that 100w would be brighter than a oem hid. I don't mean a hid kit as they just draw 35w(output is as low as 17w depending on the kit) as opposed to oem hid that outputs 35w and draws closer to 50w

people still do it but it will fail an MOT however you put it without the necessary bits 100W is silly to put in low beam even thinking it.
