i) Have you done a search on the forum to see if anyone else has suffered the same?

ii) Fuel filter changed recently, battery/alternator OK, earth straps OK, air filter OK, serviced recently, service history, etc, etc....?

ii) Follow this guide to see if DTC's have been set
http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/7162-ch...near-a-dealer/

iii) If so, get the codes read properly (the full Volvo codes not using a cheap generic code reader, might mean a trip to a stealer unless you can find someone local with the right kit to help)

iv) Post the codes on here.

Default engine cutting out on V70 D5

Hi,

Sorry to bother you but did you ever sort out the cutting out engine on your V70 D5?

I have the same model and exactly the same problem, cuts out and then runs on as if nothing has happened with no rhyme or reason.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Richard

I have been having the same issue with my 2002 V70 D5, where full power is lost momentarily while driving, then all the dash lights come on and then all back to normal driving again?

Did you get your issue fixed ??

Any ideas ??

Good afternoon.
I have owned my D4 S40 since november and today, on 2 occasions the engine randomly died, once on the Motorway whilst overtaking, then agaon once on a b road at a much lower speed.
Both times I pulled over, once i came to a stop all the lights came on, i put the car in P, and both times she started first time.........any ideas ?

Default D5 Hesitation

I have had the 'all systems off' cut out on my 2002 V70 D5.

It happened after picking the car up and driving 300 miles home, but only twice on that journey - just a momentary cut out then all back to normal (although cruise control would not re-activate until after an engine stop/re-start).

Lived with it like that until MOT in October when the garage replaced the clutch position sensor, amongst other things.

Has happened once since then - no other signs. Maybe it was that?

Do you mean the CRANK position sensor as that, if faulty, would cause the engine to cut out?

Default Finally fixed

Hi,

I eventually managed to get my V70 D5 fixed.

It was cutting out while driving and then restarting within a second, I have had several mechanics look at it two were Volvo approved and they could not fix the problem.

The problem continued and was getting worse particularly on long journeys.

I was recommended to use a guy called Roger at Fleet Car Services, Melbourne, Derby. He was brilliant and after a while he managed to find that it was a faulty electric wire within the loom coming from the ECU, extremely rare on Volvos, first time he had ever seen it. As it was connected to the ECU, the car thought it had been switched off via the ignition and hence stored no fault codes.

The car has now been running for over two months and I have done over 1000 miles in this time and it is has not missed a beat, very happy and cannot recommend the garage high enough.

Regards
