D3 aux belt tensioner
In the process of building up my 2011 d3 after cam belt failure. Struggling with the aux belt tensioner.
The origeonal one was the hydraulic type with the rubber boot on it, the new one is the spring type part no 31330379 but It doesent seem to want to fit. Can anyone confirm that these types are changeable or have I got the wrong part?

Volvo was doing the mod foc up until the 31.12.2018 so unfortunately I've missed out and it's very expensive to have the drilling done

It's a shame you can't get the car running and then ask them to do the mod. Especially since it already destroyed itself once, I wonder if they'd do you a favour.

Was the tensioner not a recall?
You could always speak to Volvo head office and see if they can help you out.

Black Dog, you could try Simon Chambers at Beechill Garage in Belfast. This independent garage deals with exotic cars such as Maserati and Bentley as well as Volvo. Also their hourly rate is much less than main dealers. I had a new tensioner fitted in 2012 as a recall. Have you spoken to Agnew's (SMW)? If it's a recall surely in should be done free regardless of the vehicle's age?

Not spoken to Agnews yet. It was a recall but not a safety issue apparently so volvo put a time limit on the offer. Unfortunately this is now 10 weeks too late.

Don't know if many people do it but when I buy a car I instantly go online and check for any recalls. Free fix at the end of the day. I then once in a while check again.

I think Black dog bought this in bits, so he's done well to get all the parts and it running. It's a shame Volvo won't help rectify what caused the failure in the first place.
