Ones you should never have sold?
As title, pics if poss please, & all makes accepted, I'll start:
^^^that was my 2nd car & it never put a foot wrong, Opel! Chopped it for a Vaux Cav 1.6GL the build quality between the German & Luton (?) built ones was miles apart. ^^^^My first Ovlov, a Torslanda, chopped it for a lovely 855T5 but always , after had a hankering to go back to a '240' shape. I did with 'The Tank', but the B200e was never as refined as the B200f (even if the 'e' was more reliable). Next.....

I guess that it depends on your reason for selling in the first place, 'Paul240480'. Hindsight trumping 20-20, I should never have sold my '71 Fiat 500 for £380 in 1974 - not because it was a special car (it wasn't (!)) - but because it would now be worth well into five figures! Same thing with the only car that I've ever bought new - my 1978 Mini 1000.
If we're talking for sentimental reasons, then it has to be my 1954 Riley RME - a beautiful car that I had when I was 21. A close second was my 1961 MG Magnette, which I swapped for a Minivan, of all things! Regards. John.

My '73 1800ES. My father bought it with 20,000mls on the clock and as you would expect full history and immaculate. I inherited it in '84 when father died and I kept it intending to run on dry days and holidays. However, with my 164E daily, the '49 Bentley MKVI and 1800, it all seemed a bit too much so sold the 1800. I have regretted it to this day and still drool over them and tempted by ones for sale.

My 1977 capri, fitted out with 3.9V8. Full xx pack bodykit. Immaculate bodyshell.
Also my Merc 190e 2.3 16v. Both sold because I was desperate not because I wanted something else. Still gutted to this day about both.

No pictures but,my 1995 3.2 XJ6 Sport[dark blue with oatmeal leather]most expensive car I've ever bought[purchase price wise]at £1250 only ever needed routine servicing in the eight years I owned it.Sold because my partners disabilities worsened and she could no longer get in/out of it-due to its low ride height-without a lot of effort. The other one I regret parting with was the first Senator B-a 1990 3.0L 12v CD-I had. This was the 2nd most expensive I've bought[£1,000]again needed nothing but servicing in 9yrs ownership allowed myself to be talked into parting with that one in a moment of total weakness/madness.

Thank you.
I rescued it from a communal parking bay where it had been for about 3 years, covered in green sludge, the interior damp and full of black mould, exhaust rotten and hanging off.....paint very tired....etc etc etc.... A true labour of love which kept me busy over an entire summer. I really loved that car and if ever I see it for sale..... A couple of additional pics..... I've just noticed your location Dippydog. I used to take it to Arties Mill regularly for the Jag meets which were held there. Happy times. |
