Set dash dimmer to minimum to reduce nav screen consumption further
Connect a charger of at least 5A, ideal is 10A, to offset the battery drain. The charging points in the engine bay is sufficient.

When I did it on mine, I could do an entire update using a 5A charger.
It took 3 hours, and I had no low battery warning.
I go to set destination. At the bottom is longitute and latitude and pressing down there is nothing below it simply goes to the top.

I cant post images however here are the details of the Sat Nav i have:

HW P/N 0031310241 AA
SW P/N 0031427857 AB
MAP P/N 32214049 AA
SW VERSION 00002308/02400
MAP VERSION AEU_06_201701A

If i go to set destination I have the following options

Address
Facilities
Stored Location [this is in grey text]
last 20
return trip [this is in grey]
Point on Map
Latitude/Longitude

Rolling through the options to Longitude/latitude if I press down again it goes back to the top.

Within address I have
Country
City
Street
Number
Junction.

I am at a loss as to why a 2012 car with 2018 updates would not offer post code search...

Any help very appreciated especially as I have just shelled out for the update discs :-(

Here is a step by step instruction to search by post code
  1. From the main navigation menu, select Set destination to go to the SET DESTINATION screen
  2. Select Address
  3. Note that your current country appears in Country
  4. Select City
  5. Note how Post code appears top right of screen
  6. Press the UP arrow to highlight Post code (top right of screen) to go to the Search by post code screen.
  7. You are now in post code search mode (You can go back to city search mode by selecting City in the top right of the screen)
  8. Enter the desired post code using the on-screen characters
  9. Found post codes appear in the selection list
  10. User the DOWN arrow to select the desired post code
  11. Press ENTER to accept the post code
  12. The nav switches back to the SET DESTINATION screen, and the second line now shows Postco. and the postcode you selected
  13. You can further refine the search if needed by moving the cursor down to Street and entering a street as needed (if any are available)
  14. Move down to Start guide and press ENTER
The selected post code is used for the navigation destination

Ah... turns out my conditioner is only 0.8A. Very possibly not up to this task.

I updated my sat nav over last couple of daYs. I simply left the discs in and each time I drove it stared up again.

Admittedly I do long commjtes but have you thought of leaving the car to just do it’s own thing even if it takes a few days?

I had a few messages about requiring correct disc but ejected and reinserted a few times.

My commute is only about 20 mins each way so it would have been an agonisingly long period. This morning, I followed the advice of checking more carefully to shut things down, so stereo off, instruments as dim as possible, aircon off and the update completed on the drive just on the 0.8A conditioner, no low battery warning.

Thanks for the lesson on postcode navigation too, I'd not thought about that. I tend generally to work out where I'm going on a computer, then pick the spot I want to get to by map on the satnav, despite being a bit old and klunky looking this MMM+ setup actuallly seems better than I'd imagined and I should trust it more.
