Default Alternator ticking noise

Has anyone had or knows what the ticking noise I have on or around the alternator seems to be only when idling it has started now when the engine is both warm & cold the alternator itself was new and fitted last November thxs Ian sorry meant to tell you v50 2.0d 2004

Could be lots of things, but first simple check for me would be to check the drive belt, specifically for any bits that are hanging off. Had this problem on a previous car where a part had been replaced but not lined up right, it caused the drive belt to slowly shred, and a bit was catching when at low revs, but could not be heard at higher revs. If it is not this then I am sure others will suggest how to correctly check components.

Thxs binty just checked the drive belt seems fine seems to sound more like a metallic clicking / ticking
