Look in the sales section
This one looks to be excellent: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=103157 And there's a silver one being offered for spares or repair at £550 too. Oli

Oops, I missed the budget and the 2.3 max thing. Must have been earlier threads I didn't see. What's up with the 2.9/3.0?
On an old Top Gear/Dave special this evening, whatshisface bought an old 740type (170bhp was mentioned) for £1 to use in a comptetition with the other 2 chaps. Looked an absolute bargain. went round the track in 1.48 as well! I think that's in anybody's budget :-) I wonder where he got it. The silver one for £550 could possibly be had for less. Can't believe the £2k price quoted for changing the control arm bushes. Just need to find an indy volvo specialist to do the job. Happy hunting. I've driven a 740 2.3l and a V90 3l and both were great. Oli

' I don't want to wait in vain '
Hi eve'ryone ,......
.....a little update to say the search continues !! , & 'thanks' for your help both here & via lloyd@blueyonder.co.uk I've had ' another ' guy / experience ( honest car ! ) who reckons that ' immaculate ' means ..... wait for it ' .... ......bad headlining sag ,...bad scuff & sctratches ,.....heater on way out ( not up to temp ) ,...big whistles hisses & whines from power steering ,....orange peel paint & rust ,..two front cracked indicator lenses ,...front electric seat not working ,...& stated that " all power steering makes that noise , & you're not meant to have it on full lock " ....& that's without me knowing much about the mechanics ! I say to myself " you're nearer to the one for you Lloyd " ..& remember clearly the people who said " be prepared to walk away " . I drove from Dundee to past Edinburgh & huge amounts of coastal roads to see the last one,....... ....it's also very annoying ( & possibly deceitful ) with the ' no tax ' situation ,...how you gonna test a car properly when you cant take it for a drive ? I keep an open mind ( difficult ) & hope that one comes up which is ' near ' & 'not' on e bay ! ( looking at those also ) Sorry if i seem to be moaning , but it can get to you sometimes . Lloyd .
