power steering issue xc60

Hello,

we have a 2011 xc60 d5 having covered 105000 miles.

on occasion the steering becomes stiff, as if the power steering is not working, this only lasts for a matter of seconds. just wondered if anyone can shed any light on this issue- would be appreciated

also a low battery warning appears on the dash at times- even though the car starts fine and i had the alternator checked

Have you checked for leaks in the system, presumably the fluid level is normal?

yes, fluid level fine and no signs of leaks

Its probably the battery. If its original, its done its day and is due a change.

As for the steering issue, I'm not really sure. If there's no leaks anywhere, try greasing the universal joint at the bottom of the steering column near the accelerator.
