Hey all few of may know from another thread it bought this on ebay without seeing it.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Anyway went to collect it this morning and I'm glad to say it's brilliant. Nearly fully stamped dealer history, plus full indy service history to top up, just had cambelt 15k ago. Every mot since the car needed them. Plus a full folder of invoices even down to buying spare bulbs.
Drives spot on, nearly 40mpg on the cruise back on the motorway at 75mph.

Only two things it needs is the weld on the exhaust joint were its blowing, and a pair of front tyres.

And it only cost £410.

Sweet. Glad the gamble has worked out.

Looks great, especially with alloy centre caps..they are rare on those alloys! Very rare.

When you look at some of the sheds that go for upwards of £500, that is indeed a bargain!!

Congrats with the motor and hope you enjoy it

Thumbs up Ebay bargain

Got yourself a real bargain there, adamr8965!

Not often you get a car like that, with that history backup, for that sort of cash.

Like gmain1967 said, there are plenty of absolute dogs that sell for more than that on ebay, usually with no history.

I must admit, I wouldn't have the bottle to buy a motor off the bay, without seeing it first, but you must be a lucky man, then!

TBH on the S40 is only going to be used for me to run to work and back (20 miles a week)
But we went out this evening and covered 100 mile round trip and it's doing 38.4 mpg according to the computer.
We might us it a little more as the V70 T5 chomps fuel.

The only thing with the car the gear level is very sloppy and i have hit 3rd when i wanted 5th a couple of times, whats the cause? doesn't jump out of gear or anything.

Hi

I saw a thread recently about replacing bushes in the gearchange, which seemed to firm the mechanism up again - can't remember what it was called, so you will have to search, sorry.

I have a spare selector shaft, from a 2003 1.8 petrol (mine has reverse below 5th) and if it fits, you can have if for a couple of quid, plus postage.

Just let me know, if it is suitable (or anyone else that can advise).

Gary
