Default Looking at a Diesel

Evening Guys,

Right, it is time for me to look at a new car as the fuel prices are getting too much for the 2.0 to be feasible, especially as it may need some work doing, and I have seen an R reg 1.9 TD SE for £1490 at a garage near me. I have seen the car near my uni campus for at least a year so i have always seen it, and i went to see it and it looks very nice, even for 151,000 on the clock.

I am just wondering if they are asking too much for it and if so, what would be a fair price for me to pay? It has MOT til July, no tax unfortunately, and service history is apparentley on it's way.

Also, what are the early TD's like? What kind of mpg can they do with general day to day driving?

I would like to maybe consider this as I love V40's and I have seen a Passat but I would rather go for another Volvo

Hope everyone is having a good evening

A bit too much. I got mine last year, 02 diesel (phase 2) for £1,500 and with 120,000 and something miles. It had a new turbo fitted two months before I got it and it is the sport version with lowered suspension, black headlights etc.

If the mileage was lower and it had full Volvo history mayyyyyyyybe. Also timing belt would need doing at 144,000 miles so if you decide to go for it make sure they have changed it, as this can add another few 100's of pounds (in case they skipped it)

Cheers Guys for the replies

I thought it might be way overpriced, and I was thinking of only paying £900 if I thought it was good enough, and I could go to the previous owners address and see if they had the service history if it wasn't with the garage.

We will just have to see what happens
