IOs 12 opens CarPlay to all 3rd party map apps so hopefully waze will update soon too.

Next step is HUD use by CarPlay - I imagine that will need car software changes so probably not till the next generation.

Yes, I was surprised the Android Auto display was not added to the Driver display.

I have Volvo maps "ON" as standard on the display, but was using Google Maps via Android Auto, and the (Volvo) map (with no route) is still displayed in front of me and the Google maps on the Sensus. A little confusing sometimes!

Note: I use Google Maps, as the location data for buildings in Volvo hasn't been 100% accurate - 2 blocks away from correct location, on a 1 way street, that required a huge diversion around the West End to get to the right location!
Not sure who supplied the underlying data!

Just had a quick look on the drive. Google maps satellite view looks really interesting. Looking forward to trying that out. Looks like you can have both Volvo Sat Nav and Google Sat Nav on at the same time. Would mute one though.
Wish we could have the Google satellite view on the driver display at least, if not HUD.
It has been 2 years coming, but maybe I did not completely waste my £300.

Certainly with Android Auto, the Volvo Map reverted to "Map with no directions" as soon as Google Maps started.
Do post if Apple CarPlay is different!

Likewise, just tried it for the 1st time and was pretty impressed with the fluid movement of the screen view...........but not so impressed with the data consumption on my in-car modem though!
