OK, terminology seems to be getting in the way here. There are a number of posts online saying that the clone units supplied are all running 2008 firmware - and this needs updating in order to be "seen" by Vida 2014A running on a Windows 7 Pro laptop. My laptop can see a device is attached, but Windows Update cannot find the driver necessary for this to connect.
Volvo state on the "DiCE Information" page that to work correctly, the devices should run "ST-182-2012-05-30 New Firmware for DiCE 5.6.2" Cheers, Simon

Install vdash. It'll sort out the software in background. (drivers)
I haven't had issue with clone device on win7

It has a firmware version "5.6.1-Mar 14 2011 07:51:16" and it works with VIDA 2014D. No problems at all. Get drivers from that link above, and try it...
