Default Volvo Amazon 122s FOR SALE £5400 ono

Due to change of circumstances and lack of storage space I have to sell my Amazon (122s). It is in mechanically excellent condition but the bodywork needs TLC (near side door bottoms beginning to go, rear wheel arches and a few blisters in the paintwork) however it is sound underneath. It is a dream to drive, extremely reliable, sounds great and turns heads. There are bills for £11,000 in the file (most work carried out by Tony Barrett) and only 9000 miles since the work listed below was carried out. I understand that the body lets it down and so I am being realistic with the asking price. This is a bargain for someone who does not mind a spot of welding. As it is, it would make an ideal reliable family run around or weekend car. Below are some of the new / reconditioned parts;
Recon 1.8 engine with unleaded head
Recon SU twin carburettors
Recon gearbox
New overdrive
New clutch
New clutch master cylinder and slave cylinders
New radiator
Fully reconditioned rear axle including new diff, halfshafts and bearings
Recon prop shaft
New wheel bearings
New alternator
New track rods
New suspension (progressive springs)
New Volvo shock absorbers
New electronic ignition
New battery
New exhaust system (sports)
New brake discs and pads
New inertia reel seat belts (including rear seats)
New halogen headlights
New tyres
Fully re wired

Please feel free to contact me on 01823 400928 or neilmusson@f2s.com Car is near Taunton.

I did say I am open to offers - I have bills to support all the new parts on this car.

Hi Neil,

Best of luck with your sale. I'm afraid that on here people are rather knowledgeable about the true value of our wonderful cars. I wish it were as simple as a correlation between money spent and car's value. Alas, it is not. ( not sure that it is on many clasics tbh)
You -may- get your price on car and classic or somesuch, but not on here. imho it's worth about £3k. I am trying to be helpful, but I don't suppose I really am, if my 'help' means you get less cash...anyway, as I say, good luck.
What year is it btw?

You'll be lucky to get anything close to that with the body rot you describe I'm afraid.
Amazons, like most old cars sell on the condition of the bodywork, that's what costs big bucks to fix.
How are the screens for water ingress? That's what separates the £2k hobbyists runabout from the serious enthusiast's £4k+ car.

Hope I'm wrong though, it's a nice looking car.

Thanks for your advice, I will investigate repairing the bodywork and re advertise. In the meantime if anyone wants to take a punt at an offer feel free.

Maybe invest in a new heater valve while you're at it?
