Default Seat belt warning on Jap import

Any owners with a Jap import V70 or XC70 around MY 2009 got a seat belt not worn warning when driving? I don't have it and tech at dealer thinks it might be a Jap spec thing. Can't think why.

Don't think that's true. Mine acts perfectly like the UK version I had before.

The dealer did the recall on the seat belt pre tensioner last month, wonder if that has something to do with it.

i recently had an xc 70 in for repairs the owner kept experiencing an SRS message which i could not replicate after clearing the codes on multiple test drives. yet within 15 mins of him collecting the car he phoned me to inform me that the srs message was back. he returned i cleared the message and i asked him to take me on a drive with him driving . it turned out that he never wears his seat belt due to a medical condition and this was the reason the message returned whilst he was driving .he thought the car had a problem. it did it was him. he now plugs in the seat belt behind him. no more warning messages. this was a uk car not a jap import

I have a Japanese import V70 on an 06 plate. No problems until I bought a pair of cheap belt extensions. The dash light wuld not go off and the warning bleep continued. I pelted the pair of them, got a refund and everything back to normal

It seems it was disabled when it was converted after import. An upgrade from Jap to UK software reinstated it. It can also be managed in VDASH.

Hi Bob, what made you upgrade from Jap to UK software? Is it just to change the language of the radio + cluster screen to English?

The language and radio and speedo had been done by the garage I bought it from, but the rest of the software was for the Japanese market. My tech at the dealer said it would be better to convert it all to UK for future servicing. I am not sure what differences there are but I suspect it is for the different regional market requirements.

I see from VDASH there are some performance upgrades available so will look at one of those later.
