Sadly there are no petrol options on the S & V90, only the XC90, though the T8 twin engine is rumoured to be coming soon. For now it's diesel power only with the D4 190 and D5 PowerPulse 235.

V70 3.2 of the latest specs
Hi, missing 6cyl (petrol) options in current Volvo portfolio.
So I'd go with V70 3.2 FWD of the end of the production. In red |

I can well understand all of you choosing pre-emmision control "analogue" era cars, life was just so much simpler then.
However the question was as to the current range, which compared to the competition all models have a welcoming feeling to them felt by driver and passengers alike. I am lucky enough to have a Polestar XC60 D4 R-Design, but that wouldn't be my ultimate choice - no, I would still choose the D5 XC60, manual 'box, and in R-Design Lux Navigation spec. The D5 has the edge in terms of character and on a daily basis is more economical too. For a D5 to match the performance of my lighter front wheel drive D4 it would also need the Polestar upgrade. What about the fabulous new XC90? Great car for passengers, but for me as a driver, I found it a worrying precursor of our clinically digital driving future, it simply lacks any driver appeal

Stunning machines buuuuut, on the other side of the showroom there was this which I think may be more suited to me :P
Hell yeah!! If only it was a factory colour lol...[/QUOTE] Is that superb mat red V40 a wrapped car? If done properly you can't tell the difference and it isn't as expensive as I thought either.

I'd love one of the new V90's as I have a 940 to match! Ish...
Gutted there's no petrol engine option. Bit rubbish really. Even the more powerful diesel one isn't that powerful compared to what the Germans make right now.

None of them TBH. Some of them look nice & I appreciate the latest technology, but 4 cylinders just don't do it for me I'm afraid The characterful 5-cylinder diesel is what attracted me to my current Volvo

Echoing many of the previous answers.
S70.. Do people who own newer volvos even know about the older ones. People try and take the **** out of my s70. They ask if it has air con or electric windows. Then I point out it has electric heated memory seats and thier 2015 ford focus doesn't, the laughs stop. I love my sunroof. I love the tick door windows sills where I rest my arm which have gone on the new volvos. The t5 engine sounds glorious. And still hammers most modern ****e in normal running conditions. The cable throttle or distributor never have electrical faults. It's crap on fuel but that's literally all new cars have on it. I'm being forced to move to an s60. It's safer and better on fuel but I doubt it'll still be out and about in 20 years. It won't bring as many smiles or be as easy to work on. We really have to consider if cars are moving in the right direction. |
