I *think* I am correct in saying that Volvo don't supply individual parts to overhaul the manual gearbox - could someone confirm/deny?

However the manual gearbox is reliable so they aren't impossible to get second hand. It may be worth opening it up anyway to see if it's a broken bracket or something simple that could be re-attached/welded?

I have knackered manual gearbox still available. Its been removed from much
beloved (sold now) xc90 d5 r design 2008.

As you can see in the pictures shaft bearing has gone smashing the housing.
All gears could be engaged prior and after a fault. Gear selector works fine.

maybe it can be rebuilt
If interested you are very welcome to come and collect it for £20 - I will buy some lagger lol

Hi Diro,
Ironically, i was on holiday on the Broads last week, although i had literally no room left, to fix a spare gearbox in!

Your offer is of interest, can i have first refusal, as i'm not quite sure yet what i am going to do about the problem....

So when your box broke, were there any symptoms beforehand?

thanks

The symptoms - A little noisier gearbox on the 5 and 6th gears untill one day a strong single knock came out from the transmission. Bearing been totally destroyed damaging housing.
I never had problems shifting gears.

Hi,
I know your post has been on a while.
I have the same problem won't stay in 6th gear even if you try and hold it, you can feel in making contact with gears slight grinding but can't hold it there,
Did you find and fix problem?
thanks

2 hills harry was last on line in 2017.

I don't think you get much joy from him.

Good luck with your problem though

Cheers

Dave
