Default Wanted 240 estate.

Hi

I am new to this forum and I am seeking a daily driver close to this:

Petrol
Manual
Simple as possible to maintain (Wind down windows, no sunroof, not fuel injection etc)
Decent Service history
Current MOT
Reasonable mileage
Minimal rust
Can use immediately as a daily driver.
Good condition within price range of £1000 -£2500
Within 150 miles of London
Roof rack and alloys would be nice to while aim creating a wish list! (not a deal breaker)

Ive enquirer about a few cars but they seem to go quickly.
Would prefer a personal exchange of a loved vehicle rather than an eBay bidding war experience.
I am looking for a keeper to replace a recently stolen classic vehicle.
Your help or advice appreciated.

Regards
Richard

I've dropped you a PM with details of my white manual gearbox Volvo estate (warts and all) should you be interested.

Good luck with your search.

Default Carb or injection

With late 80s 240s I find the injection cars are easier to keep running well and rarely cause trouble. They used pretty horrible carburettors unless you can find one with a manual choke Weber.

Of all the cars available at the moment, that silver Torslanda on the link above your last post looks like a hot ticket. Not what you're after?
Thickest guage steel of any production road car ever, proper tank!

It's a beautiful car and has lots of extras.
As a newbie i am hesitant to buy a car with that mileage.

I hear you, but every used 240 will have it's niggles, they're a minimum of 24 years old now!
Better a club car with a loving, long standing previous owner... I bought mine blind in November '14 as an utter newb, off a bloke who'd fettled it, ruined it and passed it on over Ebay. I'd driven a V40 for 5 years trouble free and always lusted after a 240 estate, it's has had a suspension overhaul (because it needed it), new sills and i've done loads of different jobs in the past months. Nothing was astronomically expensive (yet!) and a lot of it could have been done by myself if I knew then what I know now. It's been the best learning curve I ever embarked upon! 155K the oil is still honey coloured and purrs like a cheshire cat.
Don't be put off by mileage, 250,000 is nothing for these, just have a look at https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/highmil...del_search.php

I'm not affiliated with the seller in any capacity by the way! Just looks nice, at the right price and needs to go to my eyes. Plus, given your stated budget, you could goa whole long way with an extra grand...
Go and have a look at it! You never know

Shown this and various other cars to my significant other.
She says 'I dont like silver cars'.
I laughed.
I will however take notice of her preference as I want to keep both her and the car fI eventually or a long time.
