Question Cold Air Feed Induction Kits K&N Type

Anybody got any help or advice on these kits, I'm toying with the idea of fitting one to my 940 2.3ti, I believe you have to remove the existing air box and filter, then fit the kit which is supposed to give a better air flow-improve performance (not that I'm bothered about that, its fast enough for me has is) but I understand they also improve on MPG, I've seen some of these kits on ebay for about £50, any advice would be most welcome.

More MPG? An interesting topic but I'd be doubtful.

I bought one of these but fitted it to my 360 turbo instead as was in need of a filter that fitted. i don't think it will improve a 940 and in fact will turn you into a chav, the turbo spooling and dump valve noise is very loud. (too loud for my sleeper 360).

The turbo is a self regulating mechanism that takes exhaust power to increase engine efficiency, inlet restrictions will simply take a little more power from the exhaust for the turbo to compensate.

Also unless you are into eeking all performance and measuring inlet air temps so you can boost the sh1t out of it it wouldn't give you extra power.

An mpg meter can be had for a similar amount, but needs a bit of effort. Given a clear road you can learn to get 40mpg average.

They improve air flow slightly but they offer worse filtration qualities. They will neither improve performance or MPG because the air filter is such a minor restriction anyway compared to the rest of the intake.

Replace the old filter if it is grubby and put the rest of the £50 to a thorough stage 0.

thanks for your reply, from the replies I've had it sounds best to leave well alone, so I'll leave it as standard, thanks to all who replied.

I have fitted a K&N air filter and induction to my 940 B230FK so far very pleased with it. I already had the kit lying around spare so fitted it mostly out of curiosity.

So what I have noticed is yes there is little of dump valve noise but nothing too extreme. I have noticed the car is little bit more responsive on acceleration. Cant make any comments about MPG yet but doubt there be any effect.

The 360 is very loud but much less noise management in engine bay / passenger area. I wonder what it sounds like out the front of your 940, still many people aim for 'loud'.

Does anyone have a part number for a K&N induction kit for a 940?
